When you dream of a tropical island, Moreton Island is what you dream of; clear sparkling water, and white sandy beaches. Moreton Island is a great destination for a day out for the whole family. The island is 97% National Park and therefore has very little development. You can enjoy great facilities on board Reality 1 as we cruise around the shores.
Our eco tour offers a great way to explore the history of the island as well as a way to understand the eco systems on, around and below the island. Morning tea is served as we cruise across sea grass beds watching out for dolphins, dugongs, turtles and other marine life. The diverse nature and history of the island is then explained by our experienced guides. For the more adventurous, there is an opportunity to get up close and personal with the marine life, in our specially designed boom net. (Wetsuits and Safety Vests are provided onboard)
Lunch is then served onboard as we cruise back to Bulwer. Once arriving at the settlement of Bulwer, you go ashore for the afternoon, and have the opportunity to explore the island.

- All passengers need to be at departure point 30 minutes prior to departure time.
- Cancellation policy for the eco tour with less than 48 hours notice no refund will be given and is non transferable.
- Greater than 48 hours notice 50% refund will be given or transferred to another date.
- The eco tour can be cancelled upon the discretion of the operator taking into account the sea and weather conditions of the day. Reschedule or full refund will be given.
- The eco tour is number dependant and will not travel if the minimum numbers are not achieved.
- The operator reserves the right to substitute the vessel and/or change the day’s itinerary without notice.
- Prices subject to change without notice.
- *All passengers participating in the water activities must be competent swimmers and sign a release and indemnity deed.
- Purchase travel insurance or accept financial risk – I understand unforeseen work, medical or airline problems may cause me to cancel this trip. Weekend Liveaboard Trips
Friday to Sunday (book more than a week out and save $$$ - see our "Rocket Deals")
Guests board Friday Night at 7:00 pm for an 8:30pm departure from our home berth at Newport Marina. On the way out, all divers are briefed in the lower back lounge area on the safety procedures and complete all paper work. Big Cat then anchors up for the night to give you the chance to have a nice calm sleep in your air-conditioned berth.
Saturday Morning Big Cat heads out to our first dive site ready to dive at about 6:30am. We try to offer the best sites available given the weather conditions; however it is normally a site like Robert’s Shoal, Cement-co, Hutchison’s Shoal or one of our other great sites. A continental breakfast is available from 05:30am thought to 08:30am. Your dive cylinder is filled ready for the next dive at about 9am. Hot morning tea and fruit platters are then served and we are off to complete our third dive for the day at about 11:30am. After this dive we head to the calm waters behind the reef to relax and have a delicious hot lunch with fresh garden salads. The afternoon gives you the chance to watch a movie, sun bake on the top deck or have a sleep in your air-conditioned berth. At 3:30pm the dive crew rallies the divers to the dive deck to start the afternoon dive which is normally on one of the moorings at the beautiful Flinders Reef. The sun going down marks the opportunity to enjoy the reef at night for your fifth and final dive of the day, the night dive. Once back onboard you enjoy a nice hot shower as Big Cat steams to a safe, calm anchorage for the night. At our anchorage, the famous Big Cat BBQ is served followed by dessert and a good nights rest.
Sunday Morning is the chance for a deeper dive normally at Gotham City, Breanna’s Balcony or another great site. After breakfast we set up for the second dive of the day around about 9am. More delicious fruit and snacks for morning tea and off to complete your eighth and final dive for the weekend. The last dive is normally shallower and sometimes is in the calm waters of Moreton Bay on one of the many wreck and rock sites we have to offer. On our way back to Newport Marina we serve up a wonderful buffet lunch for you to enjoy after a great weekend of diving. After lunch take the opportunity to wash your gear out in fresh water tubs and hang them out to dry while you relax and enjoy a movie or kick back on the top deck. “Big Cat Reality” arrives back at the marina at about 5.00 pm.

DAY SCUBA DIVING

Guests board at 7:40 am for an 8:00am departure from our home berth at Newport Marina. “Reality 1” goes straight to Bulwer to unload day guests and then starts our dive day. Morning tea is served as we head out to our first dive site. Our first dive is on one of the more exposed sites (weather depending) like, Gotham City, Charlie’s Chapel, Cement-co or any other one of our great sites. We then head to the calm waters behind the reef for a tropical cold meat salad lunch. Your second dive is a still water dive at Flinders Reef. This site offers a large diversity of marine life with over 180 different fish species including pelagic, estuarine fish and the famous turtle cleaning station. The afternoon is then spent relaxing on the sun deck with afternoon tea and refreshments from the bar as we cruise back to Bulwer to pick up our day guests and then head across the bay back to Newport Marina.
